Description

Benzylpenicillin sodium salt is a bactericidal antibiotic that belongs to the group of natural penicillins. The drug inhibits the formation of peptide bonds by inhibiting transpeptidase, disrupts the late stages of the synthesis of peptidoglycan of the cell membrane, and leads to the lysis of microbial cells that are dividing.

The drug is active against gram-positive bacteria, in particular Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Bacillus spp., Listeria (L. monocytogenes), erysipylotrix (E. rhusiopathiae), most corynebacteria and anaerobic bacteria (actinomycetes. ), spirochetes (Treponema spp., Borrelia spp., Leptospira spp.). Most gram-negative bacteria, protozoa, viruses, fungi and rickettsia are insensitive to the drug.
